Excellence in Independence

Our mission is to promote independent living and community involvement for persons with disabilities through the provision of quality services and housing.  The Agency respects the dignity and changing needs of clients and their families through flexible service delivery by specially trained staff.

Programs and Services

Supportive Housing Program

Officially opened in 1984, the geared-to-income apartment complex consists of thirteen one-bedroom and two two-bedroom units. Tenants manage their own lifestyle, sign a lease with the landlord and participate fully in community living.

Attendant Outreach Program

Outreach services allow adults with permanent physical disabilities, living in the community to structure and schedule their activities of daily living for maximum independence.

Assisted Living Program

ABL not only offers Assisted Living services in the Timmins area but also within the Matheson-Iroquois Falls-Cochrane corridor to fully support our Northern region. Therefore, we have established satellite offices in all of our service areas.

Home Help/ Maintenance Program

Home Help offers light house cleaning. Home Maintenance offers lawn cutting and snow removal. Both of these programs are on a fee-for-service basis for those who are eligible.

Respite Care Program

We provide in-home and         out of-home relief for parents/guardians of adults with developmental disabilities who require specialized care. The program also provides flow-through funding for caregiver respite services and supports for children with developmental disabilities.

The Summit Programs

The Summit programs were established to facilitate the vision of being “client-focused and community-minded” while providing recreational and social programming for both children and adults with developmental disabilities.
